As of July 9, we were 100 days into the golf course renovation, finishing up the construction part of the project, and right on schedule. The construction company is wrapping up the shaping work and the irrigation contractor is a week away from finishing the installation of the irrigation system. Our old irrigation system had 800 sprinkler heads; our new system has 1,148.
Phase 1 (holes 8-12) grass is growing in nicely. We have 70-80% turf coverage on these holes and have rolled and mowed Phase 1 a few times, sliced it, and will start to core it to help level it up later this week.
Phase 2 (holes 1-6) grass has been down for 23 days as of July 10 and is growing in a little quicker than Phase 1. We have started to roll the grass on Phase 2 and will start to mow it later this week.
Phase 3 (holes 13-18, range, practice and chipping greens): we have sod down on holes 13, 14, 15 and 18 along the edge of the native areas and around the greens. We sodded the entire hole on 14 except the tee tops and green surface. Weather at the sod farm held up the grassing process a little, but holes 13-18 are ready for sprigs this week. We plan to have all the grass planted by the week of July 15.
Having all the grass planted by the week of July 15 will give us 100 days to complete the grow-in process and get the course ready for our Opening Day!
